Education ministers agree over a national curriculum

A national curriculum has been agreed upon at a meeting of education ministers in Darwin.

Federal education minister JULIE BISHOP has supported the proposal .. presented by
the states and territories.

Victoria's acting Education Minister JACINTA ALLAN says she's very pleased with the
move .. but says the proposal to pay teachers based on their performance has been rejected.

The plan would have seen teachers' pay based on assessments of their work .. student
exam results .. and parents' feedback .. not the length of their experience.
