NSW:Brisbane's mood brightens a little

BRISBANE, Jan 13 AAP - After a night spent on tenterhooks, unsure what fury Mother
Nature would unleash upon them next, Brisbane residents are counting their blessings as
the city's fast and furious river has risen less than expected.

The raging Brisbane River peaked about a metre lower than expected at 4am (AEST) on
Thursday, offering just a small reprieve for the many low-lying suburbs around its banks.
